Car hanging mid-air, halts traffic on Raj Bhavan Road

HYDERABAD: A car perched on top of a roadside wall and being desperately pulled out by a few people presented a rare spectacle for the road users on the Raj Bhavan Road stretch on Thursday morning. Vehicular traffic came to a standstill for a brief while as people stopped their vehicles to catch a glimpse of this bizarre sight.

The commuters, in their hurry to reach their destinations during the morning rush hour, were in for a shock when they arrived at the Makta road intersection on the Panjagutta-Raj Bhavan Road. In a freak accident, a car went out of control due to an apparent brake failure and crashed into the retaining wall on the sideway stretch leading to the upland area.

A major mishap was averted as the car stopped short of taking the plunge from that height and on to the Raj Bhavan Road. But as it got stuck to the retaining wall, it looked almost as if it was dangling from the wall and presented a weird sight for the commuters down below.

It was a narrow escape for the driver as the car kept hanging precariously on the wall. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief as no one was injured in the incident. The traffic police reached the site later and pulled out the ill-fated car with the help of a crane and a few local people.
