CLINT to invest Rs.6,200 cr for a data centre in Hyderabad

The project is estimated to entail an investment of roughly Rs 6,200 crores, which would be made over the course of the next three to five years

HYDERABAD: The Telangana state government and CapitaLand India Trust Management Pte. Ltd., trustee-manager of CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT), on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a data centre at CLINT's International Tech Park Hyderabad (ITPH), Madhapur.

The MoU was signed by Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Principal Secretary for ITE&C, Industries and Commerce Departments for Telangana, and CLINT Management in the presence of KT Rama Rao, Minister for Information Technology, Industries, and MA&UD.

CLINT would use CapitaLand Group's data centre expertise to build the ITPH data centre, which will have a built-up area of 250,000 square feet and a power capacity of 36 megawatts (MW). The facility would include cutting-edge cooling and security technologies, as well as a dedicated gas-insulated substation on-site.

The data centre, with its cutting-edge technical specifications and development that prioritises sustainability, would be able to support regional hyperscale players and large businesses. The project is estimated to entail an investment of roughly Rs 6,200 crores, which would be made over the course of the next three to five years.

On this occasion, the Minister for IT, MA&UD, and Industries, K. T. Rama Rao said: "I am very happy to see CapitaLand invest in Telangana. Today, Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing Data Center markets in India and CapitaLand's investment adds to the pace we look to keep up. I hope to continue this relationship and hope the state can work together with CapitaLand to get not only Data Center investments, but also other IT/ITeS infrastructure projects to fuel the ever-growing IT industry in the state."
