HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police commissioner Stephen Raveendra on Saturday said that the traffic police and other departments would be conducting joint inspections at accident prone areas in the city, identify the reasons and take necessary preventive measures.

It was decided that engineering methods would be chosen wherever necessary. He also asked officials to increase the "drinking-and-driving" checkposts and be more vigilant to prevent fatal accidents.

The Police Commissioner reviewed traffic issues and road safety.

The officials discussed the causes for accidents and identified blackspots in the city. Issues related to prevention of road accidents, road safety, traffic awareness, traffic engineering, inadequate illumination, rumble strips, road markings, junction improvements, sign boards, blackspots, U-turn, footpaths, foot over bridges, water logging, drainage and water leakage were discussed.

The CP stressed the need for coordinated efforts by all the stake holding departments to reduce fatalities and injuries on roads in Cyberabad.

Cyberabad Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Police T. Srinivasa Rao, Road Safety DCP L C Naik, Shamshabad traffic ACP P Srinivas Naidu, Inspectors and other traffic officials were present at the meeting.
