GMR Hyderabad International Airport wins two CII National Awards

The annual CII forum recognizes organizations engaged in implementing energy-efficiency measures.

HYDERABAD:The GMR                         led Hyderabad International Airport has once again won the prestigious "National Energy Leader" and "Excellent Energy Efficient Unit" awards at the 23rd National Award Ceremony for "Excellence in Energy Management" held by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - Godrej Green Business Centre (GBC) during the 21st edition of "Energy Efficiency Summit" held August from 22 - 25,2022.

The GMR Hyderabad International Airport has received recognition as a "National Energy Leader" and a "Excellent Energy Efficient Unit" for the fourth and sixth years in a row, respectively.

GHIAL operations have resulted in a significant energy savings of around 5.41 MU (4426 tonnes of carbon emissions reduction) over the last three years as a result of its sustainable initiatives toward energy efficiency measures. This has also resulted in a significant reduction in GHG (Green House Gas) emissions at HYD. It is also worth noting that Hyderabad International Airport has Level 3 + 'Neutrality' accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI) under its Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme.

Speaking on this achievement, Mr. Pradeep Panicker, CEO- GHIAL said, "This award reaffirms our unwavering commitment towards sustainable initiatives and our efforts to improvise and render the best use of the natural energy resources. GHIAL always adopts a consistent and proactive approach in implementing the latest energy-efficient solutions. The annual CII forum recognizes organizations engaged in implementing energy-efficiency measures and adopt best practices in their day-to-day operations. The jury evaluates participating organizations on some key parameters of energy efficiency and innovative thought processes adopted and GHIAL was appreciated for its initiatives.

The 'National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management' is instituted by CII to catalyze significant and innovative practices for the energy efficiency sector, thereby facilitating energy- efficient and sustainable growth for the Indian industry.
