HYDERABAD: Heavy rain lashed many parts of Hyderabad on Wednesday night from 8 pm to 12 midnight and wreaked havoc in the city due to which several colonies in many areas were inundated and the houses in the low-lying areas were waterlogged. The roads were flooded disrupting the traffic wherein two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and three-wheeler vehicles were washed away.

Heavy rain was reported in a total of six zones Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Khairatabad, Charminar, Secunderabad, and LB Nagar with Kukatpally registering the highest rainfall of 10.4 cm followed by Qutubullapur 9.2 cm, Tirumalagiri 9 cm, Ramachandrapuram 8.2 cm, Musapet 8 cm, Fatenagar 7.3 cm, Patancheru 7.2 cm, Balanagar 6.8 cm each.

With the heavy floods followed by rain in Borabanda, the Vehicles parked in front of houses were washed away and the flood water stagnated under the Erragadda metro station, which led to a large number of vehicles halt on both sides. On the other hand, Khairatabad, Ameerpet, Ellareddiguda Road Junction, Begumpet, Qutbullapur, Alwal, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Panjagutta, Sanatnagar, SR Nagar, West Venkatapuram and Ramachandrapuram roads were heavily flooded. The denizens of the city alleged that the DRF teams and GHMC staff were nowhere to be seen nor could they be reached on phone.

Meanwhile, reservoirs in the suburbs of Hyderabad are overflowing due to massive rains. At present, the inflow of Osmansagar is 900 cusecs and the officials lifted four gates to release the 952 cusecs of water. The inflow into Himayat Sagar is recorded at 1,200 cusecs and the outflow of 1,373 by lifting two gates.
