IIT Hyderabad placements phase-1 going strong with 508 job offers to 474 students

This year, over 700 students were registered for departmental placements

HYDERABAD: The students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad received 508 offers, including 54 from abroad, during the first phase of campus placements, which took place between December 1 and December 7, 2022.

The first graduating batch of BTech in the AI department at IITH saw an 82 percent placement rate within the first week of the placement process. The number of students pursuing semester-long internships has also increased to 51 this year, up from 33 last year.

The highest package is 63.78 L, and the average package is 19.49 L for ongoing Phase-1 placements as of today. The company Blend 360 has made the most offers available. Core engineering, IT/Software, finance, and consulting were among the top hiring sectors. Many Indian and international startups and companies are among the top recruiters this year.

This year, over 700 students were registered for departmental placements. The number of students pursuing semester-long internships has also increased to 51 this year, up from 33 the previous year. The entire recruitment process was conducted in hybrid mode.

Expressing his delight on the best placements season so far, Prof B S Murty, Director, IITH, said, "We believe in creating industry-ready talent with strong fundamentals, which certainly will fetch the dream jobs for the students. The various initiatives taken in the last two years, like Internship for BTech, Interdisciplinary MTech & so on, have made us achieve these numbers, and we will continuously innovate to make our students prepared to fulfil their dreams."

Congratulating students for this great start, Prof C Krishna Mohan, Dean (Public & Corporate Relations), IITH, said, "Exceeding our own benchmark of the previous year in the given scenario reflects the dedicated and diligent efforts of the team, and we will ensure to have better performance in future."

Speaking about Phase-1 of Campus Placements, Dr Abhinav Kumar, Faculty In-Charge (Office of Career Services), IITH, said, "The OCS student team has been continuously working along with our OCS staff to facilitate the placement and internship process at IITH. We are glad to see that the placement season at IITH has started on a positive note."

This placement season began on a high note, with 99 Pre-Placement Offers (PPO), up from 82 PPOs the previous academic year. Placements Phase 2 would begin in January 2023.
