KTR takes pride in dump yard's transformation into multi-faith crematorium in Fathullaguda

HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) inaugurated a multi-faith crematorium at Fathullaguda, LB Nagar in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Built on 6.5 acres of land, 'Mukti Ghat', as it was christened, is India's first multi-faith crematorium providing a common platform for all religions to perform their last rites and to promote communal harmony.

Speaking at the inauguration, KTR said, "We, as a state, have employed a holistic model of development and have created benchmarks in terms of development." He said that the development witnessed in the state was a result of a systematic plan. "In the eight years of TRS rule, the GSDP and per capita income have improved drastically," he added.

Speaking about the multi-faith crematorium, the IT Minister said, "The whole area was earlier a smelly dump yard which was transformed into a crematorium and a wonderful park by HMDA." The multi-faith crematorium was built with an investment of Rs 16 crore, he added. "With a total investment of Rs 84 lakhs, a pet crematorium has also been constructed to make sure even the last rites of the pet animals are performed respectfully," said KTR.

Minister for Labour and Employment of Telangana Malla Reddy said, "History has been made as no other state except Telangana has a crematorium that serves all religions." He said that Telangana was developing rapidly under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

The crematorium also features technical support to help people watch the last rites online for the benefit of relatives or well-wishers of the deceased who cannot attend the ceremony ini person.
