HYDERABAD: Owing to the solar eclipse, on Tuesday (October 25) several temples across the two states closed the temple doors.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) will be closed for almost 12 hours. "Today at 8:11 am the temple will be closed and will be opened at 7:30 pm after performing 'Alatha Shuddhi,' said the TTD Executive Officer (EO) AV Dharma Reddy. The EO said that the VIP darshans, special entry darshans, Arjita services such as Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Sahasra Deepa decorations have also been cancelled. "Annaprasada distribution has been temporarily stopped in other areas of Viakuntham Q complex," said the EO.

Simhachalam temple in Visakhapatnam will also remain closed today. "All the scheduled services on October 25 will be suspended," said the temple officials.

Yadadri temple will be closed from 8:50 am to 8:00 am tomorrow. "Nitya, Satsava Kalyanam and Satsava Brahmotsavam will be cancelled," said the temple officials. 'Sahasranamarchana', which was supposed to be held tomorrow was also cancelled. "The temple will be opened for devotees from Wednesday. The temple will be opened at 10:30 am and the usual rituals will be followed," said the authorities.

Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Siddipet district closed the temple after a morning pooja that was held at 6 am today. "The temple will be closed temporarily and the services performed to the deity are also cancelled. The temple will be opened at 7 pm, the devotees can visit the temple after the completion of the solar eclipse," said the head priest Mallikarjun.

Several other temples including Keesara, Birla Temple, Ujjain Mahankali, Kattamaisamma, Bhagyalakshmi, Balkampet, Anantagiri Padmanabha Swamy, Chilukuru Balaji, Cheeryala Lakshminarasimhaswamy, Pambanda Ramalingeswara Swamy, Secunderabad Ganesh Temple, Peddammagudi etc. were closed.
