Music ban in pubs lifted, curbs only in Jubilee Hills residential area
The Hyderabad Retro Lounges Association filed a plea against the single judge decision of banning loud music
HYDERABAD: Pub owners and party goers heaved a sigh of relief after Telangana High Court, on Monday, lifted the ban of loud music in pubs after 10 pm. However, pubs in the Jubilee Hills area, which comes under the 'silent zones' of Hyderabad due to the number of residential properties, would not be allowed to play music after 10 pm.
The Hyderabad Retro Lounges Association filed a plea against the single judge decision of banning loud music, which was being applied all over the city, basing the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Act, 200, under the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
A division bench consisting of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice Bhaskar Reddy confirmed that the restriction would only be applicable to certain pubs in the Jubilee Hills area and not the entire city.
