HYDERABAD: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken High Court Advocate and Maoist leader Shilpa into custody for allegedly being involved in the kidnapping case of a nursing student. They arrested her after conducting a four-hour search operation at her residence in Chilkanagar, Uppal, on Thursday.

Vishakhapatnam's resident, Pallepati Pochamma who is the mother of the missing girl, lodged a complaint with the NIA claiming that her daughter Radha was kidnapped three years ago by members of the Chaitanya Mahila Sangam (CMS), a frontal force of the CPI (Maoist).

She said that CMS leaders Dongari Devendra, Dubasi Swapna and Chukka Shilpa frequently met Radha and inculcated her with Maoist ideology and alleged that her daughter was taken away to be made a part of the Maoist group. She accused the three Maoist leaders of kidnapping her daughter and taking her to the Peddabayalu forest in Vishakhapatnam.
