HYDERABAD: Telangana will be home to India's largest and world's second largest startup incubator. It wouldn't be out of context to say that the vision and mission statements of IT Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) bore fruit in physical and material form, for what he had envisioned soon after assuming charge came true.

T-Hub 2.0, which will give an innovation ecosystem and provide a transformative change to 2,000 startups in a sprawling 3.50 lakh sq. ft, will be inaugurated on June 28 by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The new building with a fabulous architecture and an extraordinary facade is elegant and impressive.

KTR's vision

In fact, Telangana Government launched T-Hub in 2015, just over a year after the formation of the State, with the idea of powering next-gen business models and exploring the innovative talent among the young techies.

The government is enabling Hyderabad to compete with India's 'Silicon Valley', Bengaluru. The T-Hub was created on the basis of three i's — 'innovate, incubate and incorporate'.

KTR had said: "India, as a nation, is largely recognized for technological strengths, but it is yet to be recognized for its entrepreneurial abilities. Young Indians want wings to their aspirations. T-Hub provides them the platform to dabble and to cherish an innovation. It provides a platform for them to walk-in with an idea and walk-out with a product. Governments in India have never put in an effort to promote entrepreneurship and Government of Telangana, the 'startup state' has taken up the challenge."

Inaugurating the T-Hub, Ratan Tata had said: "Unlike earlier, an enterprise today could mean someone who is in their 20s, without experience, but someone with an idea and someone who needs to find means to implement it. We now have an environment of venture capital that listens to the idea. What we see in T-Hub is the beginning of a new India. Entrepreneurship is an area which needs or support and we must be proud of what we have."

The impact of T-Hub

The T-Hub had spawned over 1,800 startups in various sectors like AgriTech, FinTech, EdTech, HealthTech, IT, Start City, Sustainability and Smart Mobility, in the past seven years. It has worked with over 600 companies spread across 42 countries, like Intel, Qualcomm, Facebook, PwC to name a few, to synergize new enterprises. In the last seven years, startups in T-Hub received an estimated One billion USD investment and over one lakh visitors.

The Telangana Government has provided the necessary infrastructure to foster 2,000 new startups.

It would be a space where these startups could scale up and create a business value. It would provide leadership, government support, investment opportunities and enable regulatory clarity, corporate implementation and critical mass of talent.

While 6,600 startups, 10 premier educational institutions, 80 corporates, 25 research labs, over 10 Atal incubation centres, 240 Atal Tinkering Systems, and 120 GCC (global capability centre) ecosystems are going to make T-Hub 2.0 their hub of activity too.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayan, Tech Mahindra CEO C P Gurnani, and many other dignitaries visited the T-Hub.
