TPCC holds sarpanch dharna at Indira Park amid house arrests

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan is holding a sarpanch dharna at Indira Park in Hyderabad on Monday, demanding the release of funds to sarpanches and defining their duties.

Telangana senior Congress leaders alleged that the police placed numerous party leaders under house arrest. They claimed that they had obtained prior approval for the agitation.

Senior Congressman Mallu Ravi criticised the house arrests and demanded that the Congress leaders be released immediately and allowed to participate in the dharna.

The Congress leaders said that the party would support the sarpanches and continue its fight till the BRS administration released funds to the gram panchayats.
