KCR appoints BRS student leader Gellu Srinivas Yadav as TSTDC Chairman

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Tuesday nominated BRS student wing leader Gellu Srinivas Yadav as the Chairman of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Limited, popularly known as TSTDC. A Government Order was subsequently issued notifying the appointment of Srinivas Yadav to the post with immediate effect.

According to the GO, he will continue in the position, created under the Youth Advancement, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department, for a period of two years.

Hailing from Himmat Nagar of Veenavanka mandal in Karimnagar district, 39-year-old Gellu Srinivas Yadav is the president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (TRSV), the student wing of the BRS. Inspired by KCR’s vision and fight for a separate Telangana, he joined the erstwhile TRS at the beginning of the statehood agitation. He has been a diligent worker of the party since then.

Belonging to the Backward Classes community of Yadavas, he comes from a family of politically active leaders. His father Gellu Mallaiah started his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party in 1985 before switching over to the TRS in 2004. He worked as the convenor of Akhila Bharatha Yadav Mahasabha (2000-2005), Kondapaka MPTC (2001-2005) and as the mandal vice-president of the TRS. His mother Lakshmi rendered her services as the sarpanch of Himmatnagar in the past.
