HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao has strongly condemned the arrest of farmers and farmer association leaders who were planning to participate in the 'Chalo Praja Bhavan' protest. The protest was called to demand that the government fulfil its promise of loan waivers.

In a tweet, KTR criticised the police for detaining farmers and their leaders since last night, describing the arrests as illegal and stating that the treatment of farmers as criminals or terrorists is unacceptable. He further revealed that reports were emerging of more farmers being detained from their homes on Thursday morning.

The BRS leader demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all detained farmers, stating that such undemocratic actions should be stopped. KTR questioned why the government was so afraid of farmers, accusing it of reneging on its promise to waive loans of Rs 2 lakh. He emphasised that the farmers' movement, organised independently and without political affiliation, would not be suppressed and that the Congress government would eventually have to bow to the collective strength of the farmers.
