HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao has criticised the BJP-led NDA government for neglecting the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion despite Telangana's significant contribution of eight MPs to the BJP during challenging times.

In a post on the micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), KTR highlighted the lack of financial support for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project in the latest budget, despite multiple representations to the union government.

KTR pointed out that over the past decade, the BJP government has funded 20 Metro Rail projects across various states, including Uttar Pradesh with Rs 5,134.99 crore for four projects, Maharashtra with Rs 4,109 crore for three projects, Gujarat with Rs 3,777.85 crore for three projects, Delhi with Rs 3,520.52 crore for two projects, Karnataka with Rs 1,880.14 crore, Madhya Pradesh with Rs 1,638.02 crore for two projects, Bihar with Rs 1,400.75 crore, Tamil Nadu with Rs 713 crore, Kerala with Rs 146.74 crore for two projects, and the Rapid Rail Project (Delhi-Ghaziabad) with Rs 1,106.65 crore.

Despite these allocations, KTR lamented that the Hyderabad Metro has received no funding, calling it "unjust and unfair." He emphasised the need for equitable distribution of resources and urged the Union government to reconsider its stance on the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion.
