Addressing the gathering, KTR emphasized the need for everyone to take pride in the achievements and developments of one's nation. "Whenever I meet foreign investors, there is a constant comparison of India with China. India is a heterogenous, diverse and, more importantly, a democratic country. From clothes to food choices, everything changes every 1,000 km in India," he said.

Harping on the 'unity in diversity' mantra, the Minster appealed to the countrymen to take pride in India's diverse culture which also unites the people. "The feeling of Indianness bonds us as a nation," he said.

KTR also highlighted the significance of unity among people and its key role in the nation's development. "Let us focus on what binds us rather than what divides us," he exhorted.

A Arun, Lieutenant General and Commanding Officer for Dakshin Bharat, in his speech, said that flag-hoisting, holding rallies and festivities for two days did not symbolise freedom or independence. The officer underscored the importance of people's participation in nation-building. "It is not just the Army and government responsible for a nation's development. Everyone should come together to move towards this goal. Common vision can only make India an outstanding nation," the officer added.

The event showcased the strength of the armed forces besides several cultural programmes, display of weapons and para-sailing and motorcycle acrobatics to enthrall the gathering. A soldier bravely unfolding the National Flag mid-air as the climax of the event was received with thunderous applause.
