TIRUPATI: Maverick movie actor and chairman of Sri Vidya Niketan group of educational institutions Mohan Babu has said that he is being harassed as he belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Mohan Babu has always hankered to hog the limelight, though politically or otherwise, he is of no more than a 'click-bait' value. Mohan Babu and his sons have always been making efforts to draw media attention. While Mohan Babu carved a niche for himself and proved a super hit hero and earned a pseudonym of 'collection king', his sons and daughter remained wannabe stars. Their claim to fame is that they are the progeny of a star.

Mohan Babu on Monday had said that he was fighting for the cause of students and cases were foisted against him in 2019. He and his sons, Manchu Vishnu, who is the president of Movie Artistes Association (MAA), and Manoj appeared before a Tirupati court in connection with a road-block case.

Mohan Babu, Vishnu amnd Manoj organised a rasta roko demanding the release of funds due to the college under 'fee reimbursement scheme' on March 22, 2019.

The police registered cases against Mohan Babu and his sons, Vishnu and Manoj, the administrative officer of the college Tulasi Naidu and PRO Satish, as the election code came into being by then. The charges levelled against them included causing inconvenience to the commuting public, lack of police permission for the protest and also violation of election code. The sections underwhich they were booked included 341, 171 (F), and 290 of the Police Act.

The star and his sons went to the court in a padayatra along with students and their fans. The court premises was crowded with those who jostled to take a glimpse of Mohan Babu. BJP leader Kola Anand, YSRC leader A Ramachandra, MVS Mani and others walked in solidarity. The court adjourned the case to September 20.

Manvhu Vishnu is married to Veronica, a first cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan reddy. Mohan Babu was a Telugu Desam MP and supported N Chandrababu Naidu during the TDP split. He sailed with the TDP for some time and extended support to the Congress after YS Rajasekhara Reddy took over the reins of the undivided State of Andhra Pradesh. Later, he called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on quite a few occasions and owed allegiance to the BJP.

Later, they moved towards YSR Congress. They dabbled with all political parties in the State.
