During the protest, Harish Rao accused the Speaker of stifling the opposition's voice by not allowing them to speak despite repeated requests. He lamented that the restrictions in the Assembly were more severe than those during the Telangana movement, calling it a sad day for democracy. KTR emphasized that the Chief Minister must apologize to the women of Telangana and vowed not to relent until an apology was issued. He led the protest with chants of "CM Down Down."

Inside the Assembly, MLAs Sabitha Indra Reddy, Kova Lakshmi, and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy stood in protest for three hours. The BRS women legislators made it clear that their protest would continue until the Chief Minister apologised.
