HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao welcomed the Supreme Court's favourable verdict on the classification of Scheduled Castes (SC) sub-categories. He stated that BRS has consistently worked with sincerity on this issue, contrasting the party's efforts with other political parties, which he accused of playing vote politics.

KTR emphasised that the Madiga community's struggle for classification had finally borne fruit, and BRS had always supported this cause. He recalled that party president K Chandrasekhar Rao, in his capacity as Chief Minister, personally delivered a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocating for SC classification.

KTR noted that BRS, unlike other parties, had not presented conflicting arguments within the same party on the issue. He credited KCR for approaching the matter from a perspective of social justice rather than political gain. KTR reiterated that KCR had always seen SC classification as a legitimate demand, just as he viewed the demand for Telangana.

KTR further highlighted that upon coming to power, BRS passed a resolution in the Assembly supporting SC classification. KCR had also requested that the authority to classify SC sub-castes be delegated to state governments, aligning with the Supreme Court's recent verdict.

KTR called on the state Congress government to immediately begin the classification process, based on the Supreme Court's decision. He assured that BRS would fully cooperate with the government in this endeavour.
