ONGOLE: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Andhra Pradesh's Ongole faced disciplinary action for neglecting his duty and making a person dance while intoxicated.

The incident occurred in Sankarapuram, where two rival groups had recently clashed, resulting in serious injuries to three youths. In response to the heightened tension, a police picket was deployed in the area.

The ASI, part of this picket, abandoned his duty and went to the outskirts of the village to consume alcohol. A video surfaced showing a person dancing to a song played on the ASI's cell phone. Someone present filmed the incident, which subsequently went viral on social media.

Following the video's circulation, the ASI, identified as Sunil, has been asked to report to the District Headquarters. The incident has been reported to higher officials, and a detailed report has been sent to the IG office for further action against the ASI.
