D Srinivas remained a staunch Congress loyalist till his last breath: Revanth Reddy

The Chief Minister assured that the Congress party would support Srinivas's family and discuss ways to honour his memory.

NIZAMABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy paid tribute to former PCC President Dharmapuri Srinivas in Nizamabad on Sunday. He also conveyed his condolences to his sons Arvind (BJP MP from Nizamabad), Sanjay (former Mayor of Nizamabad), and other family members.

Speaking to the media later, Revanth Reddy described Srinivas as a remarkable leader who rose from student leader to significant political heights. He recalled Srinivas's pivotal role in the Congress Party's return to power in 2004 and 2009, emphasising his dedication to the party. He noted that Srinivas never aspired to any post and was deeply committed to the Congress's success. He said D Srinivas also played a significant role in the formation of Telangana State.

The Chief Minister assured the party would support Srinivas's family and discuss ways to honour his memory. He described Srinivas's demise as a significant loss for the Congress Party.


 



Revanth Reddy mentioned that even when Srinivas briefly distanced himself from the party, he maintained a close relationship with AICC leader Sonia Gandhi's family, who regarded their bond as transcending party lines. He highlighted that Srinivas was a staunch Congress loyalist and had expressed a desire to have the Congress flag draped over him in death, a wish fulfilled by senior party leaders.

Dharmapuri Srinivas passed away at the age of 76 at his home in Jubilee Hills due to a heart attack on Saturday morning.
