HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasised the need for a detailed study to find a permanent solution to the issues faced with the Dharani portal. The Chief Minister directed the officials to formulate a comprehensive Act to address the increasing land ownership problems in the state.

During a review meeting on the Dharani portal held at the Secretariat on Friday evening, Revanth Reddy noted that land records, which were once available at the village level, have gradually been centralised to the state headquarters due to changes in legislation.

The Chief Minister pointed out that previously, people had the opportunity to appeal to resolve land issues. However, with the introduction of Dharani, all powers were delegated to district Collectors instead of village and mandal authorities, leading to unilateral decisions by Collectors and unresolved land issues on the Dharani portal.

To address these challenges, the Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct extensive consultations with the public and seek their suggestions for resolving land-related disputes. An all-party meeting will also be organised to gather opinions for drafting a comprehensive act.

Revenue officials have been tasked with selecting a mandal where issues related to Bhudan, Poramboku, Bancharayi, Inam, and Kandishika lands are pending. They are to prepare a comprehensive report to clarify each land-related issue. If necessary, the Chief Minister also mentioned that a debate on Dharani will be held in the ongoing budget session of the State Assembly to make a final decision.
